From Hidden Drive to Welcoming Entrance

How gravel work, boxwood, and hydrangeas turned a trail-only approach into an elegant arrival sequence.

A blank approach

Driveway and landscape clearing along wooded lot

Mark's house was nearly invisible from the road—reachable only by a small trail through the woods. He wanted an elegant driveway, defined planting beds, and a front lawn that felt intentional from the first turn-in.

Gravel, edging & plantings

We cleared the front half of the lot while preserving healthy tree groves on both sides. Sand, topsoil, and gravel established a level yard; natural stone edging lined the full driveway run.

Boxwood hedges and hydrangeas add structure and color—classic choices for a refined Northern Michigan entrance that stays manageable year to year.
